Guest Speaker – The Fair Player Club Seminar for Compliance and Business Ethics of Railway Industry

The Fair Player Club Seminar for Compliance & Business Ethics of Railway Industry co-hosted by Korea Railway Association (KORASS) and UN Global Compact Korea Network (GCNK)

“Empowerment of Business Strategy Preventing and Managing Anti-Corruption Risks Effectively.”

One of sub-expo programs with good prepared contents of Korea Railways & Logistics 2015 Expo received much attention.

The Fair Player Club Seminar for Compliance & Business Ethics of Railway Industry is co-hosted by Korea Railway Association (KORASS) and Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK) and organized by Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF).

This seminar was the first education seminar of Fair Player Club (www.fairplayerclub.kr), a public-private sector platform to promote compliance and business ethics, was held on June 11, 2015, in the Exhibition Center 1, Bexco, Busan, Republic of Korea. It was endorsed by the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport (MOLIT) and the Ministry of Trade, Industry & Energy (MOTIE) and funded by Siemens Integrity Initiative

Korea Railway Association (KORASS) co-signed with the industry associations of automobile, construction, electronics, and machinery for cooperation in the launching ceremony of Fair Player Club on May 19, 2015.

Korea Railway Association (KORASS) said, “This co-hosted seminar will give a chance to empower competence of railway industry regarding Compliance & Business Ethics, by aligning the national agenda of Park, Guen-hye’s administration for eradication of corruption and unreasonable practices.”

IM, Hong-jae, Vice President and Secretary-General of Global Compact Network Korea (GCNK) said, “This seminar is a proven evidence of Korea Railway Association’s willingness to raise awareness of Compliance & Business Ethics in railway industry, as a cradle to nurture fair play spirit through Compliance & Business Ethics.”

He added, “I hope this seminar can be a driver to prevent and manage corruption risks effectively by empowering business strategies. Through this seminar, I hope that companies in railway industry can participate in Fair Player Club, a platform for anti-corruption and clean and fair business through Collective Action.”

Angela Joo-Hyun KANG, Founder and Executive President, Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) said, “The strategic importance of railway is increasing globally. Korean railway industry is trying to find new possibility of development in the field of trans-continental railroad and international railway transportation.” in her presentation about 'Trends of Compliance & Business Ethics of Railway Industry'.

She emphasized, “It is important to build a reliable image of Korean railway industry as a new growth engine, based on excellent technology, Compliance, and Business Ethics rather than a tainted image by corruption, to the public and the international community.”

Also, KIM, Dong-bum, Business Ethics Director, Business Performance Bureau, Korea Rail Network Authority and KIM, Myung-hwan, Director, Creativity Management, Korea Railroad Corporation introduced their company cases regarding Compliance & Business Ethics.
