¡ß Born again as a shared value marketer from a mere marketing staff

Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) is a nonprofit research institute to help South Korean companies improve their global competitiveness by strategizing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Apart from GCEF, Ms. Kang has been a taskforce member of Business 20(B20), a policy recommendation group of business and economic community of G20 countries as well as a South Korean delegate of Women 20(W20) a policy recommendation group of women community of G20 countries.

Previously, she was an international marketing specialist in charge of PR, marketing, and sales, for 10 years at a Korean subsidiary of a foreign multinational company and KOSDAQ listed South Korean companies. However, in order to jump into CSR, she quit her job in 2001, entered into Harvard Kennedy School at her not-so-young age, and obtained her master degree.

Currently, apart from her CSR activities, she endeavors to disseminate a Creating Shared Value (CSV) model that a company can create social values and economic profits simultaneously. Unlike CSR, CSV is an advanced form of a social enterprise generating business values.

She explained "In the past, I did marketing to promote company brands, products, and services. Now, I do marketing to promote shared values such as ¡âCorporate Philanthropy ¡â Business Ethics ¡â Sustainability ¡â Gender Equality, through various activities like training, consulting, and campaigning, by helping South Korean companies transform themselves as CSV enterprises."

She added "I would like to support international marketing of women social entrepreneurs and social venture business women as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation of business women and woman entrepreneurship associations among G20 countries."

¡ß Your advices to your 10 mentees.
