The 20 women mentors, appointed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family – The 2nd heroine, Ms. Angela Joo-Hyun Kang, Executive President of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF)

' Women in 20s and 30s, Overcome Prejudices and Realize Your Dreams.'

The 20 women mentors, appointed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, will give career path mentoring to the women in 20s and 30s, who started their professional careers already or are about to start, from this July, 2019.

The 20 mentor group consists of opinion leaders in various areas, who overcame prejudices towards women with their competitive advantages. Mentors will do mentoring, based their life stories about ¡â career paths ¡â solutions to overcome prejudices towards women at workplace ¡â mindsets as professional career women etc.

Entrepreneurship, an educational subsidiary company of the Money Today News, will introduce a series of story about 20 women mentors. The second heroine is Ms. Angela Joo-Hyun Kang, Executive President of Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF).

¡ß Born again as a shared value marketer from a mere marketing staff 

Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum (GCEF) is a nonprofit research institute to help South Korean companies improve their global competitiveness by strategizing Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).

Apart from GCEF, Ms. Kang has been a taskforce member of Business 20(B20), a policy recommendation group of business and economic community of G20 countries as well as a South Korean delegate of Women 20(W20) a policy recommendation group of women community of G20 countries.

Previously, she was an international marketing specialist in charge of PR, marketing, and sales, for 10 years at a Korean subsidiary of a foreign multinational company and KOSDAQ listed South Korean companies. However, in order to jump into CSR, she quit her job in 2001, entered into Harvard Kennedy School at her not-so-young age, and obtained her master degree.

Currently, apart from her CSR activities, she endeavors to disseminate a Creating Shared Value (CSV) model that a company can create social values and economic profits simultaneously. Unlike CSR, CSV is an advanced form of a social enterprise generating business values.

She explained "In the past, I did marketing to promote company brands, products, and services. Now, I do marketing to promote shared values such as ¡âCorporate Philanthropy ¡â Business Ethics ¡â Sustainability ¡â Gender Equality, through various activities like training, consulting, and campaigning, by helping South Korean companies transform themselves as CSV enterprises."

She added "I would like to support international marketing of women social entrepreneurs and social venture business women as well as bilateral and multilateral cooperation of business women and woman entrepreneurship associations among G20 countries."

¡ß Your advices to your 10 mentees.

Ms. Kang has been a mentor, appointed by the Ministry of Gender Equality and Family, from 2017. Her mentoring this year will focus on career road map planning, global mindset nurturing, and understanding of CSR and CSV.

She will give mentoring to 10 mentees about ¡â nurturing global mindsets ¡â helping South Korea succeed in the world ¡â collaborating with business, government, and social sectors ¡â building life mission and action plan etc.

She emphasized "It is important for young women to make their own life stories." and explained her mentoring plan "to hear life purposes and directions of mentees, provide practical advices, and improve their understanding about CSR and CSV through visiting companies."

She will also offer the solutions to overcome glass ceilings of women in their career paths to 10 mentees.She highlighted "During professional careers, the moment that may discourage women will come. Never give up and continue to challenge. With courage and confidence, glass ceilings can be overcome.”
