There are products and services which, on their appearance,  sweep markets, knocking down other competitors and write new market history. We call these “Killer Applications”. Think about past examples; TVs, cars, phones and emails - there are many innovations that have changed the world. The dreadful word, “killer”, implies the harsh reality that without adaptation, disappearance is unavoidable.

When the Internet bookstore, Amazon, appeared mainstream bookstores showed no reaction. However, history has recorded its huge role in shifting the paradigm of how we purchase books. New technology and concepts create new values, revamp markets and write new histories.

Government, civil society, law, labor, media and finance - these surrounding ecological systems all put pressure on companies to change their future corporate design.
International standards related to corporate responsibilities in social and environmental areas, especially, human rights, labor, environment and anti-corruption, could be called the killer applications of the 21st century.

Corporations cannot escape the influence of new paradigms. Willingness of global competitiveness empowerment for corporate survival and prosperity will be guided by two choices, whether they redefine markets and history through embedding those killer application values into distinctive business strategies and transforming them as new growth engines or they become victims of influence that the killer applications will shape.

The long journey of GCEF (Global Competitiveness Empowerment Forum) has started.
GCEF wishes for the new world of peace and prosperity that corporations and capitalism uphold justice, rights and freedom. It’s not short term competitiveness that is strong to the weak and weak to the strong. It’s long term competitiveness of sustainability.
